This blended malt Scotch combines whiskies from the north and south coasts of Islay, matured in a combo of first-fill and refill sherry butts and hogsheads. Bottled up at a hearty 54.5%, it boasts generous helpings of dried fruit, citrus zest, and cocoa richness alongside sweet, spicy smoke.

Sherry Cask – Elements of Islay | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Woody notes of cedar and aromatic pipe tobacco lead to smoked herbs, waxed lemons, and earthy tea.

Palate: Chewy dates and raisins, crystalised ginger, and dark chocolate almonds. Syrupy plums and zesty dried orange lead to sweet smoke and cakey spice.

Finish: Burnt sugar and earthen oak, fragrant peat, and tobacco linger, with prickles of pepper to see things off.

Distillery Information

Created in 2008 by Londons Elixir Distillers, Elements of Islay aims to celebrate the best of Islay whisky, the most important of which, they say, is peat! These independent bottlings boast laboratory-style bottles adorned with periodic table inspired labelling, where each distillery has its own element symbol. This pays homage to the elemental character possessed by Islay malt whiskies. The bottle used is even called a pharmacy, though apparently that was completely coincidental.
