This whisky was distilled in 2005 and spent 15 years maturing in a first-fill oloroso sherry butt before Signatory Vintage bottled it, without colour or chill filtration, for its Cask Strength Collection. Only 596 bottles of this one.

Secret Orkney 17 Year Old 2005 (cask DRU17/A63 #8) – Cask Strength Collection (Signatory) | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Waves of smoky peat, dried apricots, vanilla, and some oily pine nuts.

Palate: Dark roasted barley, with smouldering embers, floral honey, some waxy orange peel, and dried raisins.

Finish: Nutty, with lingering smoke, and peppery spice.

Distillery Information

Signatory was founded in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington and is best known for their Signatory Vintage Scotch Whisky independent bottlings including their Cask Strength and Un-Chill Filtered collections. With an initial plan to have all their bottles signed by the great and the good long since abandoned (the plan that gave the company its name), Signatory is now one of the largest independent whisky bottlers and even purchased Edradour distillery from Pernod Ricard in 2002 to boot.
