From Whitlaw distillery in Orkney, this single malt was distilled in 2014 before being allowed to mature for eight years in a single red wine barrel. It was bottled in 2022 by Chapter 7 for its Monologue series, non-chill filtered and with no added colour, with only 314 bottles produced.

Nose: Juicy red berry character from the wine barrel joins creamy grist and spices.

Palate: Dried cherries, spicy blackberries, and oaky vanilla.

Finish: Fresh cut hay, with summer berries lingering.

Distillery Information

Swiss independent bottling brand Chapter 7 was created in 2014 by Selim Evin, who was inspired by his Scottish grandfathers passion for whisky. The brand started its journey bottling lesser known single malt Scotch whiskies, though has now branched out and included Irish whiskeys and grain whiskies from Scotland. Chapter 7 was inspired by Shakespeare’s play As You Like It, which begins with the famous all the worlds a stage monologue which recounts the seven ages of man. Chapter 7 paralleled these seven ages of man with they way in which whisky changes its personality through the influence of wood over the years.
