Distilled at Dailuaine in 2009, this single malt spent its time maturing in oak casks, before being transferred to a single octave cask for a final six month finishing period. The smaller cask enables more rapid interaction between the spirit and the wood, ensuring plenty of rich oaken influence, but limiting the outturn to only 73 bottles! This expression was released in 2021 by independent bottler Duncan Taylor for The Octave series.

Dailuaine 12 Year Old 2009 (cask 10929646) – The Octave (Duncan Taylor) Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Lemon zest and sugary shortbread, rich oak char with a touch of vanilla and oily malt.

Palate: Buttered fruit scones, plump raisins, honeyed cereal with a herbal note to follow, a pinch of orange zest, and more bold, resinous oak.

Finish: Warming notes of cinnamon, baking spice, and biscuity malt. Layers of vegetal herbs and sweeter vanilla lead to peppery oak on the finish.
