On the palate, the wine is still relatively closed, but with air and patience a plethora of fruits and flowers emerges. Tannins that are almost silky in character lead to a bright freshness. The finish is long, showing forest floor and mineral notes.

• Vinous: The 2010 Barolo Le Vigne is brilliant. Focused and explosive in its aromatic intensity, the 2010 is fresh and wonderfully nuanced in the glass. It is also aging at a slower rate than the Cannubi Boschis. At nearly ten years of age, the 2010 is fresh, vibrant and so full of energy. It is also every bit as memorable as it was on release.

• James Suckling: A gorgeous young wine with flowers, sandalwood and berries on the nose. Full body, with ultra-fine tannins and a long, long finish. Wonderfully harmonious. A blend of wines from different vineyards.

Producer Information

Azienda Agricola Luciano Sandrone is an Italian wine producer of Piedmont, particularly known for its red wines from the Nebbiolo grape. The Sandrone estate was founded in 1978, a year after after Luciano Sandrone had bought a small parcel of the Cannubi vineyard. Initially, wines were made in the garage of his parents’ house. A trip to Vinitaly in 1982 allowed Luciano to sell all of his 1978 Barolo to a US distributor, providing the starting point for a long, slow period of growth as additional Cannubi plots and other vineyards were purchased. The wine portfolio focuses on indigenous grape varieties of the region including Dolcetto and Barbera. The flagship wine is the Vite Talin, a Barolo DOCG first released in 2019. It is fermented in wooden casks prior to ageing for six years in both French oak and in the bottle prior to release. Grapes are sourced from the Le Coste di Barolo vineyard of which has been developed through massal selection over multiple generations. In the winery, all fermentations are spontaneous through the use of indigenous yeasts. Grapes are vinified seperately by variety as well as by individual plot to allow for more control in the blending process. Other wines in the collection include a Nebbiolo d’Alba, a Dolcetto d’Alba and a Barbera d’Alba.
